The WHO has again expressed concerns over the unavailability of vaccines through the COVAX initiative which is causing poorer countries of the world to be deprived of the Coronavirus vaccines.
In a meeting held on Friday, WHO director-general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus spoke about the lack of “political will”, of the richer countries which are hoarding the vaccines, to vaccines with low- and middle-income countries.
COVAX is a WHO-led initiative that was launched in April 2020 to ensure the poorer countries of the world get easy access to coronavirus vaccines.
Although the poorer countries of the world need vaccines the most since these countries are those which lack proper medical facilities, the hoarding of vaccines by the richer countries has caused a crisis in such countries.
