The wine dispute between Australia and China has gone to WHO after China imposed 218% tariffs on Australian Wine.
China, a top market for Australian wine exports and wineries, accuses Australia of trading malpractices. China says it was forced to hike the prices due to the malpractices in the wine trade.
However, Australia denies malpractice and says that the hike has severely impacted the wine industry.
China has said that Australia using a trade practice called dumping, which is illegal according to the international trade law.
Dumping is when a country exports a product to another at a price that is lower than it normally charges in its domestic market. The aim is to increase its market share in the foreign country and drive out competition.
Australia has said that the decision to take the matter to WTO is to protect the interests of the local winemakers.
