America-based vaccine company Moderna has claimed that its coronavirus vaccine is found to be 96% effective in adolescents between the ages of 12 to 17.

The vaccine developer said on Tuesday that no further side-effects were seen in the teens which were different from what had been seen in adults.

If approved, Moderna will join Pfizer to get authorization for school-aged children.

Moderna has said it will be submitting the findings of the clinical trials to the United States Food and Drug Administration. The approval from FDA will mean the vaccine will be second to get approved for the adolescents.

Moderna is currently proven effective for children above 18 and is being used for that aged group.

If it follows the trend of Pfizer's vaccine, the vaccine will likely get emergency approval for usage in teens in early July.
