As the US President and the Vice President visited Atlanta, they denounced racism that is sometimes hidden in “plain sight.”

The visit comes just after eight people were killed in an attack in Atlanta, six of whom were Asian.

Addressing the Nation, President Biden said, “We have to change our hearts. Hate can have no safe harbor in America.”

“Our silence is complicity. We cannot be complicit. They (Asian Americans) have been attacked, blamed, scapegoated, and harassed; they’ve been verbally assaulted, physically assaulted, killed,” President Biden said.

Vice President Kamala Harris, who is the first person from the South Asian Descent to hold the office, said, “Racism is real in America. And it has always been. Xenophobia is real in America and always has been. Sexism, too. The president and I will not be silent. We will not stand by. We will always speak out against violence, hate crimes, and discrimination, wherever and whenever it occurs.”

The attacks on Asian American has increased in recent times, especially after the origination of the Pandemic. The Xenophobia against Asian Americans is dangerous and against the peace and harmony of the United States.
