A Texas man has been arrested in Washington DC under the Weapons act, near the vice president's residence. Paul Murray, 31, was arrested after authorities responded to a report of a suspicious person.

He was arrested on Wednesday just after noon outside the Naval Observatory campus. Vice President Kamala Harris and her husband, The Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff, are set to reside on the official residence at that location, once the renovations are completed.

Murray was initially detained by Secret Service agents and then arrested by the Metropolitan Police Department after a rifle and "large capacity ammunition feeding device" were found in his vehicle.

Washington Police said that the suspect was identified based on an intelligence bulletin that originated from Texas.

It has been said that Murray was trying to harm or come in contact with Vice President Kamala Harris or any member of her family.

The suspect served as an Army drone Operator from 2010 before he was medically discharged in 2014. Murray recently had complained to police that had not been getting support from the Veterans Affairs and had not been taking required medications.
