The shooting of two South African police officials who were killed after being shot on Sunday. The incident has been described as an apparent ambush.

After a shooting on  Plumla Street in the Bloekombos area at about 1.25 am both members were killed at the scene.

"The Hawks have been assigned to investigate the circumstances surrounding this heinous act against the State, and we appeal to the public to come forward with information that will assist us to bring these criminals to book, as there is no space in society for them," a police official said.

Police officers have been assigned to investigate the case.
