Authorities say that a man fatally shot himself in front of the home of Republican Representative Beth Van Duyne.

Police officers found the victim lying on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound. The police have not released his identity yet.

Van Duyne, former mayor of Irving, was recently elected to serve in the House.

She was home during the shooting.

The Congresswoman called the police after hearing the gunshot. The body was lying in front of her walkway. Her spokesperson said about the incident.

“She is shocked and saddened that someone would take their own life,” the statement said. “We have no further comment at this time.”

Cops are investigating a motive and how the man got into the gated community.
