Kamala Harris has been sworn in as the Vice President of the United States by Associate Justice of the Supreme Court.
"I, Kamala Devi Harris do solemnly swear-- that I will support and defend the constitution of the United States--against all enemies, foreign and domestic-- that I will bear faith and allegiance to the same-- that I take this obligation freely without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion-- that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office of which I am about to enter so, help me, god."
It is the first time a woman has ever been sworn into the white house and the second only instance of any black person being sworn in the white house after Barrack Obama. She is also the first South-Asian-American woman to hold the position.
