Jurgen Klopp rolled out three changes to his side after an immense midweek full of wins, and a strange first half happened at Selhurst Park as Liverpool left off with a weighty lead.

Among those coming in was Takumi Minamino, and it took just two minutes for the Japanese youngster, playing on the left, to score his first Premier League goal, sitting down Nathaniel Clyne with a slick touch and then pounding it low for 1-0.

Although in the initial 10 minutes the Reds fascinated, Palace took charge before long and should have leveled as first shot frim Jeffrey Schlupp headed straight into Alisson's grasp and then Jordan Ayew's pullback denied Wilfried Zaha a chance once in a lifetime.

As they gained from their openings, the consistency of the champions shone through and Sadio Mane completed his dry season with a savage finish, taking advantage of the pressing of Minamino and Naby Keita to take Roberto Firmino's ball, turn and fire in.

The gathering did not stop with the half-time whistle, as after the break, Liverpool kept rebuffing Palace, with a fourth distinct assist goalscorer blend emerging as it was laid on for Jordan Henderson by Trent Alexander-Arnold.

A lovely transfer on the privilege from Keita to Alexander-Arnold may have seen the 22-year-old shoot himself, but he had the idea of playing an ideal ball back to Henderson, who first twisted a relentless completion past Vicente Guaita.

In the second half, Liverpool had a real strut about them and Minamino had an exceptional chance to make it 5-0 as he bent his short proximity endeavor just wide of the post, while Klopp flexed his bench options by sending Mane on Mo Salah.

Firmino was not through, either with the No. 9 hooking on Salah's pass as the guard went to attack again before chipping the onrushing Guaita after 11 months without one for his second away goal.

An invulnerable lead gave Klopp the breathing room to send Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain on for a first season appearance, and bearing in mind that the shift denied a possible hattrick to Firmino, resting him, is a pleasant move for Mane and Gini Wijnaldum.

With 10 minutes left to play, Salah widened the room further, turning in Joel Matip's transcending header from Alexander-corner, Arnold's before making it 7-0 with a shocking curve.

Liverpool solidified its position this Christmas with perhaps one of the best games of the Klopp era at the highest point of the Premier League.
