Scarcity of Oxygen tanks claim lives of 7 covid patients

As the nation reported over 3,000 new cases for the third consecutive day the deteriorating coronavirus situation in Pakistan.

After one of the largest hospitals in the northwestern Pakistani city of Peshawar, Ran out of oxygen supplies took seven patients to live those being treated for the coronavirus.

Khyber Teaching Hospital spokesman Farhad Khan said the patients died on Saturday night when the vendor supplying the hospital with medical oxygen to refill the tanks failed to arrive on time. The hospital, which is the second largest in the town of Peshawar in the northwest, receives its oxygen cylinders from a supplier in Rawalpindi, a town about 190 kilometers (118 miles) away, Khan said.

According to data released on Saturday by the National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC), COVID-19 cases in Pakistan have risen in the past 24 hours by at least 3,119.

Sindh has recorded the highest number of cases in the last 24 hours, at 1,664, with 540 new cases reported in Punjab, 419 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 353 in Islamabad, 68 in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, and 59 in Balochistan.
