President Donald Trump on Saturday nominated  Amy Coney Barrett as the new judge of the US Supreme Court.

The seat was eventually vacated after Supreme Court Judge Ruth Bader Ginsberg died Friday at the age of 87.

Speaking at an election rally in the state of North Carolina, President Trump said he would nominate a judge despite opposition Democrats.

Trump has nominated Amy, a favorite of social conservatives.

Announcing the nomination during a flag-festooned White House Rose Garden ceremony, Trump described Amy as a woman of unprecedented achievement. Similarly, proposing the name of Amy, he said that she is a person who has unwavering allegiance to the constitution.

Amy will replace the late Judge Ginsberg in the Supreme Court if her name is approved in a Senate hearing. Earlier in the day, Republican Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said the Senate would approve President Trump's nomination. At the same time, it has created a new debate in the US presidential election.

However, there is a debate within the Republican Party that judges should not be appointed before the November 3 presidential election, because the Senate, which had a Republican majority, blocked the appointment of judges in 2016 when then-President Barack Obama sought to appoint judges.

The Democratic Party maintains that the old norms established in 2016 should still be maintained.

Now, the same leaders have said that they will complete the appointment process as soon as possible after completing the hearing process. Republicans have a majority in the Senate. A simple majority is required to pass the name of the proposed judge.

The United States is holding presidential elections on November 3. Democratic nominee Joe Biden has urged the Senate not to begin the process of appointing a new judge until the American people elect a new president.

Because various polls in the United States have shown that President Trump's chances of winning the next election are slim, the Republican Party is likely to be in the minority in the Senate as well.

A new twist has been created in the US election over the appointment of a Supreme Court judge. With the Corona virus epidemic killing nearly 200,000 people, leaving millions jobless and escalating tensions, President Trump has turned the appointment of judges into an election issue.

If Amy is appointed, the Conservative judges in the US Supreme Court will have a 6-3 majority. Amy, 48, would be the third Trump-appointed judge.

Under the US Constitution, a Supreme Court judge can serve for life.

The appointment of a new judge will play an important role in deciding important issues in the United States, including the right to abortion. Liberals have expressed concern that the current appointment of a judge will establish a Conservative majority in the US Supreme Court.
