Talking with the reporters Trump says, “As far as TikTok is concerned, we’re banning them from the United States,” As reporters asked when it would happen, he said: “Soon, immediately. I mean essentially immediately.” “I will sign the document tomorrow” he added.
White House officials have said the app may pose a national security threat because of its Chinese ownership. While some officials say that the app could be used to collect the personal data of Americans.
India, one of TikTok’s largest markets, banned the app in June, citing security concerns.
ByteDance, the Chinese internet company that owns TikTok, has offered to sell all of the popular video app’s American operations as a way to save their business after Trump’s announcement.
