A 14-year old girl, who was undergoing treatment at the Sardar Patel Covid Care Centre in south Delhi’s Chhatrapur, was reportedly sexually assaulted by another Covid-19 positive patient inside the washroom of the facility, police said on Thursday.
The incident took place on the night of July 15 in the washroom.
According to the police, the girl reported that she was sexually assaulted by the 19-year-old man with the man’s associate of capturing the act of sexual assault on a mobile phone.
The police also said that the accused, a 19-year-old man, was nabbed along with one of his associates and adding that both were sent to judicial custody.
The mobile of the accused have been seized, police said.
The 10,000-bed COVID care centre at the Radha Soami Satsang Beas was set up for mild and asymptomatic patients but cannot afford home isolation.
The teenaged girl opened up to her relative and shared her ordeal, who is also undergoing treatment at the centre.
Based on her complaint, the accused men were booked under section 376(punishment for sexual assault) of the Indian Penal Code(IPC) and the Protection Of Children From Sexual Offences(POCSO) Act.
After the incident, the victim was shifted to another Covid Care Centre.
