Palestinian medical officials reported that Israeli forces killed one Palestinian man and wounded six others in the occupied West Bank town of Halhoul on Thursday.
The Israeli military reported that personnel near Hebron "conducted counterterrorism activities to confiscate terror funds" When dozens of Palestinians threw rocks and explosive devices at the soldiers, it responded with riot dispersal measures and live fire, it added.
According to witnesses, the Israeli military stormed Halhoul and sealed off a money exchange business, provoking conflicts with locals who threw rocks at the Israelis.
The Palestinian foreign ministry referred to the shooting of the 27-year-old father as an "execution" by Israel and demanded international protection for Palestinians.
Since 2014, when U.S.-sponsored peace talks halted, violence in territories where Palestinians desire statehood has persisted. Since January, it has flared up anew, with Israeli raids killing at least 47 Palestinians and Arab street attacks killing 19 in Israel and the West Bank.
