Around 44,000 people rallied in Vienna, Austria's capital, to protest obligatory Covid-19 vaccinations and house lockdown orders for those who have not got the immunizations.

According to Euronews, the far-right opposition Freedom Party of Austria (FPO) organized the protest after the conservative environmental government declared that anyone who refuse the injection will be fined 600 euros (£510), which will rise to 3,600 euros if not paid.

After assuring that pregnant women and those incapacitated due to illness are excused from the need, the Executive stated, according to EuroNews, that mandatory vaccination is the only way to defend society and avoid further lockdowns.

According to government figures, 1.4 million people aged 14 have not yet been vaccinated, despite a vaccination rate of 68 percent.

According to many accounts, more than 1,300 police officers were mobilized to prevent problems during the march, arresting numerous demonstrators for allegedly violent behavior.

Austria's government just announced that the lockdown, which has been in effect since November 22nd, will stop at midnight on Saturday, at least for those who have been vaccinated, to reduce the number of Covid-19 infections.
