Jordan denounced Israeli authorities' authorization for the construction of over 3,000 additional settlement units in the occupied Palestinian territory on Wednesday.

Jordan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Haitham Abu Al-Foul said in a statement that this action is a clear crime against humanity, and a violation of international laws and resolutions, the most serious of which being UN Security Council Resolution 2334.

The spokesman emphasized that Israel's settlement expansion, reflected in the establishment or expansion of settlements, the seizure of territories, or the forcible displacement of Palestinians, is an unlawful policy that must be opposed and condemned.

He went on to say that such transgressions jeopardize attempts to build a comprehensive and just peace, as well as the prospects for a two-state solution based on UN agreements.
