Westminster police have dispatched several expert weapons officers to the scene and are undertaking a thorough search of the area.

Following reports of a guy carrying a pistol on Oxford Street in London, the Metropolitan Police were dispatched.

More than 50 police officers were dispatched to the Westminster location, but they could not locate the gunman, and there were no reports of injuries.

According to police, a "large crowd gathered at the scene, resulting in some small outbreaks of disorder" in the tourist-heavy region. Several persons were detained after being apprehended on accusations of affray.

Looting was reported outside a shop on Oxford Street.
