According to BulgarianMilitary.com, Israeli defense forces bombed several targets in the Gaza Strip in reaction to incendiary balloons thrown from there, creating fires in the southern portion of the nation.
“Today, Hamas released incendiary balloons and set fires in Israel as Israelis prepared to celebrate the Jewish New Year (...). In retaliation, we struck Hamas' missile production and military base in Gaza,” the military said in a Twitter statement.
The concrete plant in Khan Younis has been identified as one of the objectives. The concrete produced at the plant, according to the military, was used to construct a network of Hamas subterranean tunnels.
According to the report, the sites hit by Israel were in the heart of a residential area in the Gaza Strip, adjacent to cultural sites, mosques, and water infrastructure.
Three fires broke out at the Shaar Hanegev District Council earlier on Monday. Molotov cocktails hurled from the Gaza Strip, according to Israeli media claims, were to blame.
