Buckingham Palace confirmed on Thursday that Britain's Queen Elizabeth will receive US President Joe Biden at Windsor Castle on June 13 for their first one-on-one meeting.
The encounter between the queen and Biden and first lady Jill Biden will take place on the President's first travel abroad since taking office, to the United Kingdom for the forthcoming G7 summit.
It will be the Queen's first major encounter with a world leader since the loss of her husband, Prince Philip, in April, and follows a year in which the coronavirus pandemic forced her to cancel most of her in-person commitments.
A meeting between the two has been planned for some days, with the White House and the Palace discussing arrangements.
Except for Lyndon B. Johnson, the 95-year-old Queen has visited with every US president during her reign.
She has reduced her worldwide travel in recent years, making meetings with world leaders less regular.
