Two persons are in arrest, according to Miami Beach police, after a shooting on South Beach on Monday night that injured two individuals.

DaBaby, the Grammy-nominated rapper who was detained for questioning in the incident, has been freed.

Christopher Urena, 29, of Davie, is charged with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault, grand theft, and felony firearm possession.

Wisdom Awute, 21, of Charlotte, was also detained and charged with attempted first-degree murder and aggravated assault with a firearm.

Just after 11:30 p.m., a shooting occurred near the corner of Ocean Drive and First Street, a few blocks from South Pointe Park.

“Because this is a fairly popular area, I honestly believed it was fireworks,” Dimitri James, who lives nearby, said.

However, James instantly realized he was hearing gunshots.

“I thought I heard like, it might have been a gun battle because it was like, ‘boom, boom, boom, boom boom,’ just nonstop. Then it died out, and like five minutes later, again, ‘boom, boom, boom, boom,’” he said.

Residents in neighboring high rises began filming the scene from their balconies because the shots were so loud.

Several people reported hearing gunshots calling 911.

When police got on the scene, they discovered two victims who had been shot in the leg and the shoulder.

Both casualties were taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center by Miami Beach Fire Rescue teams.

One of the victims has been treated and released from the hospital, according to Miami Beach police spokesperson Ernesto Rodriguez. The second person, he said, is still in serious condition at the hospital.

The identity of the victims has yet to be revealed.

Police were spotted taking two males into custody just seconds after the bullets were fired, and detectives temporarily blocked down the MacArthur Causeway during the investigation.

Officers apprehended "many probable people," according to Rodriguez, including DaBaby, a 29-year-old musician whose real name is Jonathan Lyndale Kirk.
