Argument over face mask kills a supermarket worker

PEXELS

Following a dispute regarding face masks, a grocery worker was shot by a customer, killing her and injuring three others.

On Monday afternoon, a shooting occurred inside the Big Bear Supermarket in Decatur, DeKalb County, roughly seven miles east of downtown Atlanta.

The shooter, Victor Lee Tucker Jr, 30, of Palmetto, Georgia, had argued with the cashier before leaving the store without purchasing anything, according to authorities.

According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, he then returned to the store, approached the clerk, pulled out a revolver, and shot her.

"There was some conflict, dispute - I'm not sure what - in regards to the wearing of masks, at which time the individual pulled out a weapon and shot the cashier," DeKalb County Sheriff Melody Maddox said.

"It was over a mask," she added. I'm not sure if they were dressed or not dressed.

"People have their own opinions about wearing the mask and not wearing the mask, and it is particularly sensitive at this time."
