Authorities believe seven passengers were killed after a tiny plane crashed into a lake in Nashville, Tennessee, on Saturday.

The victims are William J. Lara, Gwen S. Lara, Jennifer J. Martin, David L. Martin, Jessica Walters, Jonathan Walters, and Brandon Hannah, according to a statement released late last night by the Rutherford County Government.

According to CNN, the incident occurred shortly after the plane took off from the Smyrna airport around 11 a.m. (local time) bound for Palm Beach International Airport. The Cessna C501 crashed in Percy Priest Lake near Smyrna, Tennessee, according to Federal Aviation Administration spokesperson Arlene Salac.

Nashville is roughly 12 miles south of Smyrna.

Search and rescue activities at the crash scene have transitioned, according to Incident Commander Rutherford County Fire Rescue Captain Joshua Sanders.

"At this time, we're not looking for live casualties, so we're recovering as much as we can from the crash scene," Sanders said at the day's third and final briefing. He said that crews will be on the spot all night.

According to Sanders, dive operations have been undertaken and many targets have been identified for dive operations to resume in the morning.

Seven passengers were on board the plane when it crashed, according to McDonald, and at least one person has been confirmed dead.

"I believe coping with the possible impact that this has on family and the community at large is probably the most difficult part," Sanders said. "Our teams are working extremely hard and attentively, and all of the agencies are collaborating extremely effectively."

According to CNN, both the FAA and the NTSB are investigating the crash, according to Sanders.
