Reports show, the Indian coronavirus strain has been found in a number of areas in England where infection rates are the highest.

The number of cases of the Indian variant of concern in the UK has risen from 520 to 1,313 this week, according to data from Public Health England (PHE), which said infections were "increasing in the population" and it was assessing the impact and severity.

Vaccines are supposed to be successful against the Indian variant, despite the fact that it is believed to be highly transmissible.

The B16172 variant, which was first discovered in India, has been linked to 1,313 cases in England, with 35 cases recorded in Scotland, 11 in Wales, and 12 in Northern Ireland, according to Public Health England.
