According to health authorities, a new mutation of the extremely infectious Brazilian COVID-19 strain has arisen in Florida.

According to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, the latest version, called P2 or P.1.1, has a slightly different sequence than Brazil's P1 strain, which has been shown to be more likely to reinfect people who have already been infected with the virus.

According to the state Department of Health, the form has been found in a 74-year-old man in Broward County and a 51-year-old woman in Duval County.
