In a virtual video meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, US President Joe Biden said that Canada is the closest friend to the US.

Biden's call was an attempt to restore the relationship, which like other foreign relations, was damaged by Trump's America First Policy.

Before heading for talks with Canadian counterpart Biden said, "We have a robust agenda today and we're all best served when the United States and Canada work together and lead together."

Trudeau replied saying the countries will be working, "together to get through COVID-19 but also to make sure we're pulling our weight around the world and making the world a better and safer place for everyone." 

In the meeting, Trudeau and Biden agreed to work towards achieving zero carbon emissions by 2050.

Trudeau thanked Biden for his policies on global warming. "U.S. leadership has been sorely missed over the past, uh, past years," he said. 

The White House says that the extensive talks on Tuesday will provide a roadmap for better relations between the countries.

Trump had a pretty tense relationship with Canada and personally with Trudeau. Trump once said Trudeau is, "very dishonest and weak," after he met Trudeau in his Canada visit for a G7 meeting in 2018.

The leaders shared mutual concerns like climate change and economic revival. They also discussed the tense situation in the countries like Myanmar and Venezuela.

Trudeau's office said, "By being on the same line in different subjects, we can do more together."
