A court in Baghdad has issued an arrest warrant for the American president Donald Trump under article 406 of the Iraqi Penal code.

The warrant has been issued for the killing of Iraqi militia leader Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis in a January 2020 airstrike that also killed high-ranking Iranian commander Qassem Sulemani.

Article 406 provides for the death penalty in all cases of premeditated murder, according to the judiciary.

Iraq's supreme judicial council said on its official website, Rusafa Investigation Court has issued an arrest warrant against the outgoing American president Donald Trump. It also further stated, "investigation procedures will continue to find out the other participants in the implementation of this crime, whether they are Iraqis or foreigners."
