A knived-man in rampage kills 7 people injuring at least 6 others.
The suspect, identified only by his surname, Yang, went on a rampage in Kaiyuan, a small city in Liaoning province, state media reported on Saturday morning. It is said that the suspect randomly began attacking people outside a sauna. Reportedly, seven people were killed and others are hospitalized.
Local police were soon alerted and arrived at the scene. One officer was wounded trying to stop the knifeman. Officials provided no details about the seven deaths or the six other individuals injured during the attack. The suspect is now in police custody, but no motive has been disclosed as of yet.
China has experienced a spike in number of fatal knife attack cases in recent months. In June, a school security guard wounded at least 39 people at a kindergarten using knife in the southern region of Guangxi. The culprit was captured and sentenced to death. Two years earlier, a knife-wielding man killed one person and injured 12 others at a shopping mall in Beijing.
