Ten days after a humiliating loss at Adelaide, India Produced a fantastic win that only few had predicted. In the abscence of the regular skipper Kohli and, a front line pacer Mohammad Shami, the game wasnt expected to go in India's favour.

After a fabulous century in the first innings, Rahane again played remarkably in the second innings. With only 70 to chase, India once got in a nostalgiac position to the first test, when they lost two quick wickets. But Rahane and the debutant Shubhman Gill holded the innings together to extinguish any hope.

India easily chased down the total with 8 wickets in hand. Rahane scored 27(40) and Gill  scored 35(36) in the process. Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc picked one scalp each.

Earlier, the task of putting up the total was left to Cameroon Green and Australia's bowlers, since the Australian top order had a collapse. There were positive signs, as Cameroon Green and the tail wagged. But the faint flicker of victory faded away when green got out on 45. Australia managed to put up 200 in the second innings, 5 more than what they made in the first, which just gave them a sixty nine runs lead.

India on the order hand showed very calmed and composed batting with players stepping up. Rahane's a long awaited century and decent scores of 57 and 45 from Jadeja and Gill helped India reach nice score of 326. Australian bowlers Starc and Lyon picked 3 wickets each while Pat Cummins picked 2 and Josh Hazzlewood picked one on the first innings.

Indian bowling was up to the mark through out the game. Jasprit Bumrah was the leading wicket taker picking 4 wickets on the first and 2 on the second innings. Spinner Ravi Ashwin picked 3 wickets in the first and two in the second. Other spinner for India picked 3 wicket team in the match with two of those in second innings.
