According to local officials, Kyiv was subjected to the largest drone attack since the beginning of Russia's conflict as the city prepared to celebrate its founding anniversary on Sunday. At least one individual perished.

According to Serhii Popko, a senior Kyiv military official, Russia launched its largest attack on the city Saturday night using Iranian-made Shahed drones. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, Russia launched 54 Iranian Shahed drones overnight, of which Ukrainian forces annihilated 52.

CNN reported that Vitali Klitshko, the mayor of Kyiv, stated that Ukrainian air defense forces had "already intercepted more than 20 UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles)" heading toward the capital and warned that "a new wave of drones is on the horizon."

"Overnight, the adversary launched a new assault on military installations and vital infrastructure in the nation's central regions, specifically in Kyiv Oblast. Near the zone, Air Command 'Center,' most attack drones were annihilated!" the air force tweeted.

The drone bombardment caused two deaths and three injuries. According to Mayor Klitshko's Telegram message, falling drone debris ignited fires throughout Kyiv.

The Russians shelled the city of Nikopol with heavy artillery, according to Serhii Lysak, the director of the military administration for the Dnipropetrovsk region.

"The enemy launched again with heavy artillery on the civilian population. "Twice during the night, the aggressor shelled Nikopol, damaging six private residences and two outbuildings," Lysak wrote in a Telegram message.
