Russia has ceased oil deliveries to Poland via its Druzhba pipeline, which was excluded from some EU sanctions on Russia, according to a tweet by the CEO of the largest Polish oil company, PKN Orlen.

He stated that despite this, the company would maintain uninterrupted supplies, as it was well prepared to cease oil imports via the Russian Druzhba pipeline.

"We will replace the 10% of the oil from Russia with oil from other countries. This is the result of diversification on which we have focused in recent years, "Obaitek stated.

Mateusz Berger, the Polish Secretary of State for Strategic Energy Infrastructure, promised Reuters that the Polish public would not experience any changes. According to him, PKN Orlen was prepared to suspend shipments from Russia for several months.

Through December 2024, PKN Orlen contracted with the Russian oil and gas corporation Tatneft to import Russian crude oil.

In November 2022, it became public knowledge that Poland and Germany debated adopting EU penalties against the Polish-German segment of the Druzhba oil pipeline. Then, Warsaw could withdraw from the agreement with Russia without incurring penalties. Poland announced in December that it was prepared to cease all oil imports from Russia.
