Rihanna made a triumphant comeback to the stage on Sunday, performing favourites such as "Umbrella" and "Diamonds." from a platform high above the Super Bowl field.

Rihanna sang while wearing a hot pink jumpsuit as the platform descended at the Glendale, Arizona stadium. Scores of white-clad dancers surrounded her.

It was the Grammy winner's first performance on stage in five years. Anti, her most recent album, was released in 2016.

The Super Bowl is the music industry's main showcase and has featured Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Prince, Madonna, and the Rolling Stones. On average, the broadcast attracts approximately 100 million viewers in the United States alone.

During the pre-game ceremony, country musician Chris Stapleton sang the national anthem while Troy Kotsur sang it in American Sign Language.

Accompanied by a choir, "Abbott Elementary" Emmy-winning actress Sheryl Lee Ralph sang "Lift Every Voice and Sing," a song that has become regarded as the Black national anthem.
