Nepali ambassador to Myanmar meets the minister of the Myanmar military 'junta'

Nepali Ambassador to Myanmar Harishchandra Ghimire met with Lieutenant General Ko Ko, Minister of Religious Affairs and Culture of the Myanmar Military Junta, on Thursday.

Ambassador Ghimire met the minister the day after Nepali President Bidya Devi Bhandari and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal "Prachanda" congratulated Myanmar's brutal military ruler General Min Aung Hlaing. 

According to the Nepali Embassy Rangoon, deputy ministers, director generals, and senior military officers of the Myanmar military government also attended the meeting held at the parlor of the ministry on Thursday.

Nepali Ambassador to Myanmar, Harishchandra Ghimire, told Breaknlinks that they discussed the exchange of cooperation in religious matters between the Buddhist universities of Myanmar and Nepal.

"We cordially discussed cooperation in matters related to Lumbini-Bodhgaya pilgrimage tours, the cultural exchange program of artistic and entertainment troupes, and the issues of cooperation in archaeology," he said.

It has been confirmed that the controversial congratulatory message of the Nepali President and Prime Minister published in Myanmar's daily English newspaper 'The Global New Light of Myanmar' on Wednesday was sent by the Nepalese embassy.

According to sources, ambassador Ghimire, without the permission of the President and Prime Minister's Office, congratulated General Min Aung Hlaing, the brutal military ruler of Myanmar, on the 75th Independence Day, an embassy official said.
