China's National Health Commission, which has published daily COVID-19 case statistics throughout the country for the past three years or more, announced on Sunday that it would no longer release such data.
"Relevant COVID information will be provided for reference and research by the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention," the NHC stated in a statement, without defining the reasons for the change or the frequency with which China CDC will update COVID information.
