The Russian military announced on Tuesday that it has unleashed "massive strikes" on all frontlines in Ukraine, in response to Ukraine's spectacular counteroffensive advances.

In its daily update on the conflict, the Russian defense ministry stated, "Air, rocket, and artillery forces are carrying out massive strikes on Ukrainian armed forces units in all operational directions."

Russia has withdrawn its forces from large parts of northeast Ukraine, especially the Kharkiv region after Ukrainian troops launched a quick counteroffensive to retake territory held by Russia's forces.

The defense ministry announced in a statement that it had conducted "high-precision" strikes against Ukrainian positions in the Donetsk region's eastern Sloviansk and Konstantinovka areas.

In recent days, Moscow's forces in the region, which has been largely held by separatists backed by Moscow since 2014, have reported violent skirmishes with Ukrainian forces.

In the meantime, the Kremlin accused the Ukrainian army of torturing residents on the retaken territory.

The spokesman for President Vladimir Putin stated that in the Kharkiv region, stories of "outrageous" treatment of residents were emerging.
