According to the BBC, Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin said on Friday that she had undergone a drug test following a video showing her dancing and lip-syncing at a party.

At a press conference in Helsinki, Marin addressed the matter, calling the calls for drug testing "unjust."

Marin told reporters on Friday, "I did nothing illegal,"

Riikka Pura, a member of the opposition party, demanded that the prime minister submits to a voluntary drug test, citing a "shadow of a doubt" over her, as reported by the BBC.

Friday, Marin stated, "I consider these accusations to be very serious," "Though I consider the demand for a drug test unjust, for my own legal protection and to clear up any doubts, I have taken a drug test today, the results of which will come in about a week."

Marin became the youngest prime minister in Finnish history when she was elected in 2019 and stated that she did not have any job obligations throughout the party weekend.

At a press conference, she stated, "We didn't have any government meetings during that weekend," "I had time off and spent it with my friends and family, and did nothing illegal."

The BBC said that Marin told reporters earlier this week that she "represents a younger generation," and will continue to live her life as she wishes.

"I have a family life, I have a work life, and I have free time to spend with my friends. Pretty much the same as many people my age," She stated, "I am going to be exactly the same person as I have been until now, and I hope that it will be accepted,"

This is not the first time her opponents and the media have criticized Marin for dancing and attending parties. Marin apologized in December 2021 for attending a club where she was exposed to a person with COVID-19.
