Yiannis Artopios, the spokesman for the fire department, stated at an emergency news briefing that around 500 firemen are in the region, aided by nine firefighting aircraft and ten helicopters, one of which coordinates air operations.
He reported that a smaller front is burning west of the Drafi town, while many fires are raging in the Anthousa region.
