Netflix Inc. said on Sunday that the global phenomenon "Squid Game" will return for a second season, offering a few suggestions about what to expect from the grim Korean thriller.

"Squid Game" became Netflix's most-watched series upon its September 2021 debut. The show follows cash-strapped candidates as they compete in childhood activities to win life-altering sums of money. It sparked the creation of many jokes and Halloween costumes and boosted the demand for green tracksuits.

In a letter issued by Netflix, writer and director Hwang Dong-hyuk hinted at a few clues regarding the show's second season.

He stated that characters Gi-hun and The Front Man will return, and "the man in the suit with ddakji might be back."

"You'll also be introduced to Young-boyfriend," hee's he continued.

In one of the games, Young-hee is a motion-detecting robotic doll.

Netflix did not provide a release date for the new season.
