On Friday, the army announced that at least eleven gendarmerie officers were killed in an attack on a security post in the Sahel area of Burkina Faso.

According to a military statement, "a particularly large number of attackers" struck the Seytenga Territorial Gendarmerie Brigade in the province of Seno on Thursday night.

Multiple terrorists were also neutralized by security forces, according to the army.

Five troops and one civilian were murdered in two separate attacks on Thursday in Burkina Faso, a country waging a decade-long insurgency extended from neighboring Mali.

The initial assault on an army installation in the western Kossi province resulted in perhaps a dozen injuries.

One soldier and one civilian were killed in a raid on the Karma industrial gold mine in the country's north, and nine soldiers were injured.

According to the army, at least 44 suspected terrorists were eliminated during the two occurrences.
