The TASS news agency claimed that 19 people, including six firefighters, were injured in large-scale fires in the Russian city of Krasnoyarsk.
"Fourteen people were hospitalized, including six fire fighters," TASS reported, citing the regional government's press office.
According to TASS, the flames damaged 518 residential dwellings, 309 facilities, and 61 vehicles.
Previous reports stated that in the villages of Talazhnka and Nikolskoye, five people perished, and 17 were injured due to the flames. Two additional fatalities were reported in the residential area of Achinsk.
The region has been proclaimed to be in a state of emergency. According to local authorities, hundreds of firefighters attempt to suppress the fires, which are an unusual occurrence in the region during May and have been fanned by a lack of rainfall and strong winds.
"Extinguishing (the fires) is being complicated by meteorological conditions - violent winds are fanning the flames and preventing them from being put out," the regional emergency ministry in Krasnoyarsk wrote on Telegram.
