According to the Palestinian health ministry, a Palestinian man died early Saturday after being shot by Israeli forces in the town of Qalqilya in the occupied West Bank.
According to the ministry, Yahya Ali Adwan, 27, was shot in the chest when he and other Palestinians resisted Israeli soldiers storming the hamlet of Azzun near Qalqilya.
Adwan's burial was held Saturday, Palestinian state media said, with guests chanting against Israel's occupation of the West Bank and recent raids on the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied East Jerusalem.
In a statement released Saturday, the Palestinian foreign ministry stated that Adwan's murder was directly related to the international community's refusal to address Israeli human rights crimes in the occupied West Bank.
Hours earlier, a guard at an illegal Jewish colony in the northern West Bank was shot and murdered. Israel's army stated that it was looking for two Palestinian assailants.
Tensions in the West Bank have been exceptionally high since Tel Aviv put more forces into the area and began fortifying its wall and fence barrier with the occupied territory in response to a spate of deadly strikes inside Israel.
They increased further during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, when Israeli settlers and security forces invaded the Al-Aqsa Mosque and compounded on many occasions, hurting hundreds of Palestinian worshippers.
