Shanghai authorities have stated that they will intensify the implementation of lockdown measures as a Covid rise persists in the financial center of China.
New precautions include the installation of electronic door alarms to deter sick individuals from leaving and the evacuation of residents to disinfect their homes.
Earlier this week, hundreds of residents were evicted from their homes to allow for the disinfection of structures.
Shanghai's lockdown will enter its sixth week due to the limitations.
Shanghai city officials announced that all infected patients and close contacts would be transferred to a government-run centralized quarantine facility to expedite patient discharge after they test negative.
Additionally, disinfection efforts will be stepped up in some of the city's hardest-hit neighborhoods. This will almost certainly necessitate the temporary relocation of some residents, including those who have tested negative.
Officials are still attempting to preserve the country's zero-Covid strategy, which places a higher premium on eradicating the virus than on living with it, as many other countries have done.
The outbreak in Shanghai, which began in late March, has resulted in more than 400,000 cases.
As a result, the city's 25 million inhabitants have been instructed to remain at home.
