Israeli authorities stormed the Al Aqsa Mosque site early Sunday, two days after a clash between security forces and worshippers injured over 150 Palestinians.
As police cleared the sprawling esplanade outside the mosque on Sunday, they arrested at least two Palestinians. Within the structure, dozens of Palestinians remained.
The cops appeared to have cleared the square to permit the entrance of a party of approximately 30 Jewish tourists.
The violence on Friday at Islam's third holiest shrine, which is also revered in Judaism, occurred during Ramadan and before the Jewish festival of Passover.
