Israeli troops shot and killed a Palestinian woman in Bethlehem on Sunday, the Palestinian health ministry reported, as tensions in Israel and the occupied West Bank continue to rise.

According to the ministry, the woman, identified as Ghada Ibrahim al-Aridi, a 47-year-old widowed mother of six from Husan village west of Bethlehem, died at a hospital in Beit Jala, West Bank, after suffering substantial blood loss due to a ruptured artery.

According to the Israeli army, soldiers fired warning bullets into the air as the woman approached them near the village of Husan before "fired towards the suspect's lower body."

According to Haaretz, no weapon was discovered on her person. The army stated that it was looking into the situation.

According to Palestinian media, a fight between Israeli forces and Palestinians in the area ensued following the shooting.

The incident comes on the heels of a violent three-week period during which 14 Israelis were killed in shooting and stabbing incidents perpetrated by Palestinians from the occupied West Bank and within Israel.

At least seven Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank by Israeli fire during the same period, including one by a settler.

Three Israelis were killed Thursday when a resident of the Jenin refugee camp in the northern West Bank opened fire at a Tel Aviv pub.

The Israeli army invaded Jenin on Sunday morning for the second night in a row.

The Palestinian health ministry reported that at least ten individuals were injured in skirmishes in Jenin, Jericho, and Tulkarem.

According to the Palestinian Prisoners Club, 24 Palestinians have been arrested across the West Bank.

Ahmad al-Saadi, 23, was murdered Saturday in a confrontation between Palestinian rebels and Israeli police in the Jenin refugee camp.

He was a commander in the Jenin unit of the Al-Quds Brigades (Saraya al-Quds), the military component of the Islamic Jihad movement.

At least 13 additional Palestinians sustained bullet wounds during the operation, including a 19-year-old woman.
