According to a spokeswoman for its parent company Meta Platforms Inc, Kanye West has been barred from the social media platform Instagram for 24 hours following an alleged violation of the platform's harassment policy.
The company banned content received from the rapper's 44-year-old account that violated its regulations against "hate speech and bullying and harassment," a spokeswoman for the platform, Joe Osborne, told Reuters in an emailed statement.
West, who legally goes by the moniker 'Ye,' will be prohibited from posting, commenting, or sending direct messages from the account for 24 hours, Osborne said, adding that further action may be taken if he continues to breach policies governing account regaining control.
West's representatives did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Reuters.
According to Variety, West used racial insults toward Trevor Noah, host of "The Daily Show" in an Instagram post following Noah's discussion of a feud between West, his ex-wife Kim Kardashian, and her boyfriend, "Saturday Night Live" comic Pete Davidson.
According to the claim, the post has subsequently been deleted.
Meta declined to disclose specific instances of posts that violated its rules.
However, West's page still includes posts criticizing actor D.L. Hughley and Saturday Night Live writer Dave Sirius.
Kardashian, a businesswoman and reality television personality filed for divorce from West a year ago, citing irreconcilable differences. The couple has four children, ages two to eight.
Following the divorce, West publicly chastised the reality star's new connection with Davidson and pleaded with her to reconcile with him.
Following nearly eight years of marriage to the rapper, a Los Angeles judge accepted Kardashian's plea to be declared legally single earlier this month.
