According to a website update, Disney World plans to make masks optional for fully vaccinated guests beginning Thursday, reversing a ban that was implemented in mid-2021.
The relaxation of the mask requirement follows the decision by Universal Orlando Resort and cruise line Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd (NCLH.N) to make face coverings optional for their customers.
Walt Disney Co (DIS.N), which operates Disney World in Orlando, Florida, has stated that it requires customers who are not completely vaccinated to wear face covers in all indoor locations, including cinemas.
According to an update on the Disneyland California website, unvaccinated guests were obliged to wear masks in all inside locations, while face coverings were optional outside.
Masks will still be necessary in certain interior contexts, including transportation, according to Disney World and Disneyland.
Many big U.S. corporations, including Goldman Sachs (GS.N) and JPMorgan Chase & Co (JPM.N), have made masks optional for their employees, Vice President Joe Biden stated last week that eliminating COVID-19 mask regulations was "probably premature."
