Adele took up the top three trophies at Tuesday's BRIT Awards, the first gender-neutral edition of the UK's annual pop music awards.
The London-born singer-songwriter, dubbed "Queen of the BRITs" by host Mo Gilligan, took home the night's first prize - song of the year - for her chart-topping hit "Easy on Me."
The song was the lead single from Adele's comeback album "30," which she has stated was created to explain her divorce to her young kid. It was named the year's best album.
"I'd want to dedicate this honor to my son, Simon, and to his father. This record chronicled our entire journey, not just mine "Adele stated with tears in her eyes, referring to her ex-husband Simon Konecki.
"I'm very proud of myself for sticking to my guns and putting out an album that was about something that was so personal to me (because) not many people would do stuff like that any more."
The 33-year-old also won artist of the year, a category that is now gender-neutral and included rappers Little Simz and Dave and singers Ed Sheeran and Sam Fender.
"I understand why the name of this award has changed but I really love being a woman, being a female artist," Adele stated.
"I'm really proud of us."
Following previous award shows and events that have eliminated gender classifications, the BRITs announced in November that they would eradicate female and male categories in 2022.
Adele, who now resides in Los Angeles, performed at the wedding.
Despite its November release, Adele's fourth studio album, "30," was the best-selling album in the United Kingdom in 2021, selling over 600,000 copies in just six weeks.
The singer expressed gratitude to Inflo, who was chosen producer of the year, for assisting her with the single.
Among the other award winners were rock band Wolf Alice, who won the best group, and rapper Little Simz, who won best new artist.
Sheeran was named the year's songwriter.
Billie Eilish and Olivia Rodrigo of the United States won best international artist and best international song, respectively, for their single "good 4 u."
The award for an international group of the year went to the American R&B duo Silk Sonic, which comprises Bruno Mars and rapper and singer Anderson .Paak.
Four new genre awards were also introduced this year, the 42nd edition of the awards, with Sam Fender taking home the best alternative/rock artist award and Dave taking home the award for best hip-hop/grime/rap act. Dua Lipa was named best Pop/R'n'B act, while Becky Hill was named best dance act.
All four were chosen by popular vote.
