The Grammy Awards, which recognize the year's best musical performances, have been postponed for April 3 in Las Vegas, the Recording Academy and broadcaster CBS announced Tuesday.
The awards were initially scheduled on January 31 in downtown Los Angeles but were canceled after the Omicron variant prompted a new wave of COVID-19 infections.
The event, televised and streamed live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena, will be hosted by comedian Trevor Noah.
The Grammy nominations for 2022 were revealed in November. Jon Batiste, a pianist, and bandleader led an eclectic group that included teen pop phenomenon Olivia Rodrigo and elderly crooner Tony Bennett, 95, who earned his first Grammy in 1963.
The 2021 Grammy Awards have been postponed due to the COVID-19 epidemic. The ceremony, which took place in March rather than January, featured a combination of pre-recorded and live segments in front of a tiny, socially isolated crowd.
Organizers revealed few details beyond the new date and location for the 2022 show.
Due to the revised Grammy's date, the CMT Music Awards for country music were rescheduled for April 3. They have been rescheduled until later in April, CBS reported.
