India reports 122 more Omicron cases in 24 hours; 358 cases of new variant detected so far

With the total number of 88 infections, Maharashtra has now the extreme number of cases of the new extremely transmissible variant, followed by Delhi with 67 number of cases and Telangana with 38 respectively.

India has now recorded as it’s 122 cases of the Omicron variant of coronavirus in the time interval of 24 hours, the highest so far till now pushing its tally in the country up to 358 in which 114 has already been recovered or drifted, according to United Health Ministry data updated on Friday.

The 358 Omicron COVID-19 variant cases have been detected across the 17states and their nearby territories.

Maharashtra has now recorded its highest number of 88 cases of the Omicron variant, which was followed by Delhi with the total number of 67, Telangana 38, Tamil Nadu 34, Karnataka 31, and Gujrat 30 respectively.

The Ministry updated the data at 8 am also showed that India has recorded its 6,650 new coronavirus infections, taking its total counting of cases up to 3,47,72,626, while the count of active cases has declined to 77,516.

The death toll due to the disease has drastically climbed up to 4,79,133 with almost 374 daily fatalities being recorded and it showed.

The daily rise in new coronavirus infections has been recorded below 15,000 for the last 57 days.

The calculation of the active cases has declined to 77,516 which comprises 0.22 percent of the given total infected infections and the lowest number since March 2020. The national COVID-19 recovery rate has been further improved to 98.40 percent, the highest number since March 2020, according to the ministry alleged.

A decrease of 775 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in the time interval of 81 days now.

The weekly positive rate was recorded at 0.59 percent. This has been below one percent for the last 40 days according to the health ministry.

The total number of people who have improved from the disease has surged to 3,42,15,977 while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.38 percent.

The cumulative number of doses administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive has topped up to 1.4 billion.
