On Monday, the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) inaugurated Afghanistan's fourth nationwide polio immunization campaign, which will reach 9.9 million children aged 0 to 59 months.

UNICEF said in a statement that the program will be coordinated with that in Pakistan to help with polio eradication efforts on both sides of the border.

According to TOLO News, this is the second program to reach youngsters in very unreachable places.

The first round of vaccinations began in November, and 8.5 million children under the age of five were inoculated, including 2.4 million children who had not been immunized in over three years.

Dr. Dapeng Luo, the World Health Organization's (WHO) representative in Afghanistan, announced that six additional programs are planned for 2022.
