On Wednesday, miners resumed their strike over poor working conditions, with some staying overnight on the streets of Sarajevo.

To this day, this is how we operate, and they want us to work based on performance "explained Amer Hajdarevic, a miner at the Tuzla thermal power plant.

Several activists and musicians from the 'Dubioza Kolektiv' band took part in the demonstration, singing hit songs for the miners.

As part of an agreement with the European Union, Bosnia's government has agreed to close all coal mines and coal-fired power facilities by 2050.

The country now has five thermal coal-fired thermal power stations, the majority of which were built during the former Yugoslavia era.
